CONCERTINO (SMALL CONCERTO) FOR PARK BENCH AND STRINGS

WORLD PREMIERE

1pm June 30th

The world premiere performance of Garry Jones’ Concertino for Park Bench and Strings was performed at Music New England’s Event in a Tent at Famolare Fields UVM Extension Campus  at the Vermont Agricultural Business Education Center  on Old Gulford Road Brattleboro.  Marimbaphonist  Jane Boxall brilliantly played the musical bench  in a stunning performance on the main stage in the big top tent , along with members of the string section of the Windham Orchestra conducted by Jacob Mashak.

The bench Jane played is chromatically-tuned with  our  striker mechanism fitted. The main section of the bench is the equivalent of the white keys of a piano, and the “black” keys , or accidentals, are on a detachable frame that will be brought out for occasions such as this and other performances in the park where the bench will ultimately be installed. Jane used a selection of her own beaters. Watch the performance on our video page.
