Windsong Dreaming installation-Inspire school for Autism, Brattleboro, Vermont, USA

Built for and with students from the school. Each pole has a tuned tube at the top which produces a musical note when the wind blows. Each pole plays a different note. On the very top of each pole is a “totem” designed by one of the students which represents their hopes, dreams and/aspirations which are turned into music and sent out over the countryside. Each student also decorated their own pole. Additionally, each pole has an organ pipe inside it which is activated by jumping (rolling a wheelchair on) a series of pads set into the ground uphill from the poles. This makes it possible to “jam” with the wind music when the wind is blowing, or just play a tune when it is not.
